So I did my GCSEs and A-Levels, after that I did a four year undergraduate MChem degree. Once I’d finished that I really wanted to study the theoretical / computational side of chemistry in more detail so I did a one year masters degree that specialised in that. I’m now in my third year of my PhD, so if we’re counting “work” as years spent in academia I guess that’d be eight years at University! But that’s by no means the only way of working, many of my friends have gone into industry jobs that they love, others have gone to industry and then come back to work in academia with different skills that are equally as beneficial as the ones I’ve gained.
