In science-related field I started working as a volunteer when I was an undergrad student. I was after my 2nd year and I took a placement in an Institute of Plant Genetics to have a bit of laboratory experience and observe scientist at work. I loved it. Since then I always tried to work/volunteer in different laboratories at least a little bit. Finally I started working and be paid for doing science, when I started my PhD, so 12 years ago. When I started university I was a math tutor for high school students and some of my friends from uni. I always loved math and I was very proud when I managed to explain some aspects of it to someone who did not like it or was struggling a bit with it.
